The finest and the healthiest children are those who for the first four or five years of their lives are fed principally upon it.<br /> </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: justify;">Milk must then to be their staple food. No child, as a rule, can live or if he live, can be healthy, unless milk be the staple part of his diet. <b>There is no  substitute for milk</b>. To prove the fattening and strengthening qualities of milk, look only at a young calf who lives on milk and on milk alone! He is a Samson in strength and is "as fat as butter".<br /> </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: justify;">Milk, then, contains every ingredient to build up the body which is more than can be said of any other  known substance besides. A child may live entirely and grow and become both healthy and strong on milk and on milk alone as it contains every constituent of the human body.<br /> </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: justify;">A child cannot "live by bread alone" but he might on milk alone! Milk is animal and vegetable--<i style="color: #38761d;"><b>it is meat and bread--it is food and  drink</b></i>--it is a fluid but as soon as it reaches the stomach it becomes a solid.<br /> </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: justify;"><b>How is milk in the making of cheese</b>, converted into curds? By rennet. What is rennet? The juice of a calf's maw or stomach. The moment the milk enters the human maw or stomach, the juice of the stomach converts it into curds--into solid food, just as readily as when it enters a calf’s maw or stomach, and much more readily than by rennet as the fresh juice is stronger than the stale. <span style="color: blue;">An ignorant mother often complains </span>that because when her child is sick the milk curdles that it is a proof that it does not agree with him! If, at those times, it did  not curdle, it would, indeed, prove that his stomach was in a wretchedly weak state; she would then have abundant cause to be anxious.<br /> </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: justify;"><b style="color: #990000;">Solid food:</b> It is a glorious food for the young  and must never on any account whatever, in any case be dispensed with. I do not mean to say but that the mixing of farinaceous food--</span></b>such as Lemann's Biscuit Powder, Robb's Biscuit, Hard's Farinaceous Food, Brown and Polson's Corn Flour and the like with the milk is an improvement in some cases--a great improvement.  but still I maintain that a child might live and thrive and that for a lengthened period on milk--and on milk alone!<br /> </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: justify;">A dog will live and fatten for six weeks on milk alone; while he will starve and die in a shorter period on strong beef-tea alone!<br /> <br /> It is a terrible sin for a milkman to spoil milk. How many a poor infant has fallen a victim to that crime!--for crime it may be truly called.<br /> </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: justify;">It is madness in the extreme for a mother to bate a milkman down in the price of his milk; if she does, the milk is sure to be either of inferior quality, or adulterated, or diluted with water; and woe betide the poor unfortunate child if it be either the one or the other!<br /> </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: justify;"><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">The only way to insure good milk is to go to a respectable cow-keeper</span></b> and let him be made to thoroughly understand the importance of your child having genuine milk and that you are then willing to pay a fair remunerative price for it. Rest assured that if you have to pay one penny or even two pence a quart more for genuine milk, it is one of the best investments that you ever have made or that you are ever likely to make in this world!<br /> </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: justify;">Cheap and inferior milk might well be called cheap and nasty; for inferior or adulterated milk is the very essence, the conglomeration of nastiness; and, moreover, is very poisonous to a child's stomach. One and the principal reason why so many children are rickety and scrofulous is the horrid stuff called milk that is usually given to them. It is a crying evil and demands a thorough investigation and reformation, and the individual interference of every parent. Limited Liability Companies are the order of the day; it would really be not a bad speculation if one were formed in every large town, in order to insure good, genuine, and undiluted milk.<br /> </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: justify;">Young  children as a rule, are allowed to eat too much meat. <b style="color: #990000;">It is a mistaken notion of a mother that they require so much animal food.</b> If more milk were given and less meat, they would he healthier, and would not be so predisposed to disease, especially to diseases of debility , and to skin-disease.<br /> </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: justify;">I should strongly recommend you then to be extravagant in your milk score. Each child must, in the twenty-four hours, to take at least a quart of good, fresh, new milk. It should of course be given in various ways--as bread and milk, rice-puddings, milk and different kinds of farinaceous food, stir-about, plain milk, cold milk, hot milk, any way, and every way, that will please his palate and that will induce him to take an abundant supply of it. <b><span style="color: blue;">The "advice" I have just given you is of paramount importance,</span></b> and demands your most earnest attention. Therefore here are the 3 common questions related to baby exercises and tossing. </span><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><span style="font-size: small;"><b><span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Question # 1: </span></b></span><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><b><span style="color: #990000; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Do you recommend exercise in the open air for a new born baby? and if so, how soon after birth?</span></b><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I am a great advocate for is having exercise in the open air. "The infant in arms makes known its desire for fresh air by restlessness, it cries for it, cannot speak what he wants but if you take out in an open air, he will be quiet."</span><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">The age at which he should commence taking exercise will of course depend upon the season and upon the weather. If it is summer and the weather is fine, he should be carried in the open air, a week or a fortnight after birth but if it is winter, he should not on any account to be taken out under the month and not even then unless the weather be mild for the season and it is the middle of the day. </span><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">At the end of two months he should breathe the open air more frequently. And after the expiration of three months he ought to be carried out every day, even if it be wet under foot provided it be fine above and the wind be neither in an easterly nor in a north-easterly direction. By doing so we shall make him strong and hearty and give the skin that spotted appearance which is so characteristic of health. He must, of course, be well clothed.</span><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I cannot help expressing my disapprobation of the practice of smothering up an infant's face with a handkerchief, with a veil or with any other covering when he is taken out into the air. Hoarseness does not usually attend a common cold in the child and these <b>symptoms</b> may be premonitory of an attack of "croup" a disease excessively rapid in its progress and which, from the importance of the parts affected, carrying on, as they do, a function indispensably necessary to life requires the most prompt and decided treatment.<br /> <br /> The following observations of Dr. Cheyne are so strikingly illustrative and so pertinent to my present purpose, that I cannot refrain inserting them, "In the approach of an attack of croup, which almost always takes place in the evening, <b>probably of a day during which the child has been exposed to the weather</b> and often after catarrhal symptoms have existed for several days, he may be observed to be excited in variable spirits more ready than usual to laugh than to cry, a little flushed, occasionally coughing, the sound of the cough being rough, like that which attends the catarrhal stage of the measles. <br /> <br /> More generally, however, the patient has been for some time in bed and asleep, before the nature of the disease with which he is threatened is apparent. Then, perhaps, without waking, he gives a <b>very unusual cough</b>, well known to anyone who has witnessed an attack of the croup. It rings as if the child had coughed through a brazen trumpet. It is truly a tussis clangosa. It penetrates the walls and floor of the apartment and startles the experienced mother. 'Oh! I am afraid our child is taking the croup!' She runs to the nursery, finds her child sleeping softly and hopes she may be mistaken. But remaining to tend him before long the ringing cough, <b>a single cough</b> is repeated again and again. The patient is roused, and then a new symptom is remarked. The sound of his voice is changed. Press upon this part and your pressure will increase the pain. It is frequently connected with approaching disorder of the brain. It may forebode a convulsive fit and such suspicion is confirmed if you find the thumb of the child drawn in and firmly pressed upon the palm with the fingers so compressed upon it that the hand cannot be forced open without difficulty. The same condition will exist in the toes but not to so great a degree. There are things in the relationship, though, that need contractual agreements, not necessarily in the legal sense but in the agreement sense. "When you finish your homework, we'll go to the movie." or "when your grades rise, you can have access to the car."</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><b>4-My children are not "mine".</b> I'm grateful (and humble) for being a part of the process of creating my children but they are not mine. I do not own them and in fact, the roles I have is to provide them the opportunity for them to be the "boss of themselves" not for me to be the "boss of them".</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><b>5-My children are not to carry on my dreams.</b> What a tremendous burden, it is for kids to struggle under the weight of their parents hopes and dreams. I want my kids to have their own dreams, not be burdened with unmet dreams of my life. That means that when they are on the playing field of life--either metaphorically or physcially-my role is to cheer on my kid and their team. My kids are not there to struggle under my past "no matter how glorious or pathetic.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><b>6-Speak truth into their lives whenever possible.</b> Parenting is an opportunity for parents to create an opportunity where children see themselves in the story of life. This means that parents can literally speak what can be "into the lives of their children whenever possible. This is why the messages that parents give their children are so important because from a as child's point of view the parent is the mirror in which they see themselves. Sometimes it may sound like a fiction story "when you say," I know you can accomplish _____ goal! " And sometimes it may be the impossible dream. The goal of dreaming is to create a new reality that can be accomplished simply by seeing possibilities over: the good, the bad, the possible in the impossible.<br /> Conversely, it is the parents role to guide the child into areas where they may be more suited. While I would never discourage my children to try new things and can see where they may have more natural gifts and can encourage their development in music, arts or athletics whenever I can. The ultimate decision for where and child goes, however, is their own.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><b>7-Be a screw up "- </b>I believe that kids need guidance, not perfection. In fact, I believe the role of parenting is to create completion not perfection. Parenting, by design, is as much about parents formation as it is the kids. This humble approach to parenting is transformative in that parents will learn as much about themselves and the world through the process of good parenting as the kids will.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><b>8-Companion to # 7</b>-"Say" I'm sorry "quickly-I have no problem saying" I blew it! "to my kids" when appropriate ". The reality is I blow it everyday. While it is humbling to realize that my kids already know more math skills than I ever will, it is also reassuring. No parent can know everything nor can any parent be everything for their child. A parent can, however, let their child know that they are cared for and that they are not alone.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><b>9-Have a partner- </b>Whether married or not, parents need support. I am grateful for my husband of 21 years who is gifted in ways that I cannot ever be. As our kids have grown up and am comforted to how my husband can untangle the knot with our kids. At other times my parenting skill set may be more suited to a given situation. Knowing the needs of the child and what is most needed at the time is a skill to be learned as you know your child. Be patient with this process and with yourself. (Refer to 7 & 8 above!)</p>.<br /> <p style="text-align: justify;"><b>10-Pray a lot- </b>I believe that kids are part of life's design with a creator that knows everything they need before they ever take a first breath. Toddler’s biting behaviour is one of the built in behaviours. <br /> <br /> Few days ago it was not an important issue for me but when my 1 ½ year daughter started biting me or my son on our fingers (whenever she likes or get chance), I realized that I should search the reason for it. During my search I found many videos, articles and books on the internet. I try to explain some of them;<br /> <ul style="text-align: left;"><li><i><b>Way of Communication:</b></i> According to study, majority of toddlers start biting between their first and third birthdays. Probably the most common reason is that it is one effective way for their communication before verbal skills are developed. However, not all children bite. Some choose other forms of communication, such as grabbing, shoving, or punching.</li> <li><i><b>Frustration:</b></i> Another reason toddlers bite is to express frustration, a feeling which is very common with toddlers, because both their communication skills are so limited. </li> <li><i><b>For Fun:</b></i> As I mentioned above when my daughter bites, it is funny for her to see mommy suddenly bolt upright or for her brother to start crying. </li> <li><i><b>Teething:</b></i> Toddlers may also bite because they're teething or because they put everything in their mouths anyway, so why not someone's finger? It could even be something as simple as hunger. </li> </ul><br /> <div style="text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: large;">How to teach your child not to bite?</span></b></div><br /> Yes, what I suggest, firstly, make it perfectly clear that the biting is hurtful and wrong and point out to your child how much pain their biting has caused.  Express that biting is wrong and unacceptable and that neither mommy nor daddy likes it.  <br /> <br /> Try to find the reason behind biting behaviour. If you discover that your child is biting out of frustration, try giving them an alternative to express to people they are having a difficult time.  Though language is a difficult task at this age, most toddlers can be taught words that are appropriate for such a situation. <br /> <br /> It’s not easy but you try to teach your toddler that "You need to tell mommy or daddy that you need help and not bite us" or "Show mommy what you need, but don't bite.  You'll hurt her if you bite and I know you don't want to hurt mommy, do you?" <br /> <br /> I also found that parents should try not to give biting so much attention that it becomes an attention-getter. This is true of all behavior that you don't want to see repeated.  Firmly tell the child again that there is no biting allowed, that it is wrong, and that it hurts people.<br /> <br /> <div style="text-align: center;"><b>It’s a small share of my experiences. At the beginning, I suggest, designate no less than one night per week to have a sit-down meal with your family. This diverts their attention from their kids. So make sure the television is off.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 17px;">Make it a rule that all phone calls go to voice mail or the answering machine during the meal.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 17px;">Take your time eating and teach your children how to do the same in the process. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 17px;">Eating slowly is a healthy habit.  Don't jump up and start clearing dishes and putting things away until everyone is done eating and talking.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 17px;">Eat less than your will. Simple rule (make three portions of your stomach. One for air, one for water and one for meal to live a healthy life)</span></li> </ul><br /> <span style="font-size: 17px;">Yes, I understand you cannot do this every day even you should. So what you can do on the other days when you can't sit down as a family?
