Choosing the right baby equipment! What you need for your baby?  Well the story begins after a successful delivery and your arrival at home with your new family member. O yes! your own cute baby. Congratulations from Cute Baby Solutions. You spent your day at home and then you go for your first visit to your Doctor. After your visit, check your mail box. You will find your mailbox flooded with all kinds of baby magazines and ads for every possible piece of baby equipment that you can think of.

These flyers, magazines and ads will be full of advices, recommendations and even testimonials. Although many of the items are handy and work well, there are many that play upon your fears as a first time parent or are just silly!  There is lot to talk and write on how or what baby equipment to choose but I just give you few hints which will help you when you want to think about purchasing.

We can save nice money by going to second hand stores for these items or you can easily ask from your friends / relatives if you can borrow or purchase from them. I know it’s your first baby and you want the best for him. OK let’s start. First baby equipment is;

Car Seat:

As you know, now-a-days car seat is mandatory. I do not know about your area or country law but here hospitals will not even allow you take your baby until you explain them how to buckle the baby in the seat. Most of times, they also follow you to the car to make sure it is installed correctly in your car. Car seats will be outgrown (grow too large) at least twice before your child grows out of them by the age of eight.  If you are considering a second-hand car seat, make sure that it meets all safety requirements.

Baby Monitors:

Now-a-days, one of the most popular and recommended baby equipment is a baby monitor. Again I am not sure about your place, but it is best for those who keep their babies in separate room. A baby monitor is a great tool to be able to hear the baby from any room in the house. This way you do not have to stay close to their room all the time. At night, some parents turn the monitor OFF because if it’s ON then they will hear every moan and movement that the baby makes and this can keep them awake. You need to get your rest to take care of your baby. Well depends on how much you can sacrifice for your baby.

Choosing a Crib:

When you are choosing a crib, you need to look for one that has these features.

  1. Choose a good quality mattress that is firm.
  2. The mattress should fit the crib comfortably on all four sides.
  3. The guardrail should be at least 26 inches above the top of the mattress.
  4. The crib slats space should be no more than 2.375”.
  5. The crib bumper will help keep the baby’s legs and arms out of the crib slats.

Bouncy Seat:

When it is not easy to hold your baby then a bouncy seat is a great place for your baby. It is coolest and comfortable place to feed them their first meals of rice cereal (O yes but not before 4 months ADD link of baby food).  It depends on your baby’s age, bouncy seats are ideal for those who cannot sit well enough on a high chair when they begin cereals. At this stage bouncy seat is a great answer to this problem.

Sling or Back-Pack:

Well it depends on mothers how you feel comfortable but this trend is growing faster. A sling or backpack is a great tool to carry baby if you use caution with it.  If you use it too much, however, your baby could possibly have neck or back problems. Choose a sling or backpack that fits you very well and that grows with the baby.  The Snugli is great for younger babies that cannot sit up and for older babies the Hip Hammock works great.

Play pen:

A playpen (playpen is a piece of furniture in which an infant or young toddler is placed to prevent them from causing harm) is a great help for you especially when you have to do things like housework and it keeps the baby safe. Around five months old (typically those less than 35" tall and 30 lbs) is the ideal age when a baby should be placed in it. It is not necessary for those babies who cannot crawl or roll and you can use a floor gym for entertainment.

There are many other baby equipments that can be considered. You can find that fit your usage.
